The Project Officer Entomology reports to the Senior Officer Entomology. The position interacts with staff across the Biosecurity Branch, especially the CPHO group, and key Agricultural Services and Biosecurity Operations staff, BRD staff and agriculture policy staff. The position collaborates with other officers in the CPHO unit, providing technical input into risk analysis and mitigation and response preparedness plans. It provides technical input into both exotics and endemics programs within Biosecurity Branch e.g. input into QFF and phylloxera, locusts programs. The position may provide technical information and advice to industry on the safe and correct use of chemicals to control and/or eradicate invertebrate pests.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.
A qualification in science or agricultural science, with evidence of experience working in entomology is mandatory for this position.
