Description
The COO will work closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors as they develop their unique
strategies and tactics for long-term impact across the African continent. The purpose of the COO will
be to oversee the organisation’s various operation departments and staff, including the management
of WTC network of campuses, finances, student performance, sourcing and marketing, internship
and job placement as well as manage the company’s legal and policy functions. The COO will focus on
developing process and procedures that will ensure the quality of the WTC product and services. The
COO will report to the CEO and serve as the liaison to the Board of Directors on financial issues.
The ideal candidate is a strong and experienced operational leader and manager, who is driven to
tackle the challenge of leading the Pan-African development of an innovative non-profit edtech start-
up. This role will require strong financial and organisational management skills. The ideal COO will
need to be rigorous, hands-on and have a keen attention to details. He/she will need to demonstrate
creativity, adaptability and a keen grasp of how technology can be leveraged to scale an education
organisation, how to develop world-class software engineering education standards, and lay a solid
foundation for growth.

Skills
- 5 to 10 years’ experience in working in a complex operational and/or financial environment in a senior management role.
- experience in business process re-engineering, business planning, financial and management accounting, change and project management and governance.
- Hand-on experience of leveraging technology to optimize an organisation’s operations and support scaling strategies.
- Role model, determined, positive and resilient leadership, able to inspire
confidence and respect, and exemplify high standards of conduct and personal behaviour.
- A passion for education and the African continent as demonstrated through academic study, volunteerism, or work in public sector roles, and a commitment to WTC’s mission

Diplomas
University degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or another rigorous discipline. A master’s in business administration is preferred.
