Since July 2012, Clariant has been operating a pre-commercial plant in Straubing, producing up to 1,000 metric tons of cellulosic ethanol from around 4,500 metric tons of raw materials every year while improving and optimizing the process during that time. As a next step, Clariant is currently realizing a first-of-its-kind plant for the production cellulosic ethanol in Southern Romania - Craiova. The whole Sunliquid(R) process chain will be covered, therefore combining mechanical, thermal and biotechnological process steps in an integrated innovative setup. This plant will be the first in the world producing cellulosic ethanol using Sunliquid(R) technology.
As the ESHA Manager you will be responsible for the management of all ESHA activities on Site. You will manage all ESHA activities in compliance with legislation. Support of the plant commissioning and installation of plant and support machinery.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for independent development and provision of legal advice to the head of Business Unit and its line management
- Responsible for safety, health and environmental issues in Site
- Monitor Romanian regulations, national laws, emergency issues and ensure procurement and documentation of required data
- Works to achieve compliance with Clariant corporate, divisional and standards and targets
- Organizes, prepares and participates in the Site emergency management
- Evaluation of investments and expenses in budget/cost center for ESHA matters
- Monitors and reports the follow up and actions from ESHA audits and inspections internal and requirements from authorities
- Ensure continuous organizational development on ESHA
- Reviews environmental and safety compliances with laws and evaluate impact on company operations.
- Prepare. Collects and provide key figures, risk portfolio and corrective actions /status updates
- Conduct´s ESHA training for all Clariant personnel and contractors according to needs and legal requirements
- Support of contractors regarding definition of safety requirements
- Control of contractors during the activities of service provided in the plant
- Suggests corrective and preventive actions on site risk portfolio and daily dangerous situations/behaviour
- Inform and support site management on ESHA matters
- Perform risk assessments for the site
Requirements:
- Chemical or mechanical degree or similar technical education or experience
- Training and education in process safety
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ESH matters in an industrial plant (Chemical or Brewery or Food & Beverage Industry or BioTech Industry experience would be an advantage)
- Analytical and project management skills
- Ability to drive improvements and to deal with uncertainty
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to act in a highly complex environment
- Very good English Language skills
- Computer knowledge of MS Office programs or similar
